The Paris Fashion Week of 2008 was full of surprises, but none quite so surprising as the sight of Pharrell Williams and his partner Louis Vuitton designing a capsule collection together. For the first time, the iconic French fashion house and the Grammy-winning producer came together to create a unique and vibrant collection of clothing and accessories. Now in 2023, 15 years later, Pharrell Williams has been appointed as creative director at Louis Vuitton, a position held by Virgil Abloh before his death.
Pharrell Williams as the new creative director at Louis Vuitton signals the brand’s commitment to modernizing their image even more, with Pharrell’s signature style and creativity sure to bring a new and different approach to the brand. His past collaborations with the likes of Adidas, G-Star, and Chanel have demonstrated his ability to bring his unique vision to a new audience, making him an ideal fit for Louis Vuitton.
Under Pharrell’s direction, Louis Vuitton can expect to see an influx of innovative designs and bold colors. His eclectic style and forward-thinking approach to fashion is sure to bring a new edge to the brand’s already iconic designs. As Pharrell puts it, “I want to bring something that’s relevant to the new consumer, to the young consumer, to the digital consumer.”
I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director. His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter.
Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton’s Chairman and CEO
The fashion industry is also excited to see what impact Pharrell’s appointment will have on the culture of Louis Vuitton. His diverse background and strong commitment to social issues will be sure to bring a fresh perspective to the brand’s values and message. His first collection for Louis Vuitton will be revealed next June during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris.
