UPDATE: The shoes successfully sold yesterday starting from 25,400 USD up to 107,950 USD:

Sotheby’s is thrilled to announce an exclusive global online auction showcasing the remarkable Nike Dunk Low ‘Virgil Abloh™ x Futura Laboratories’ sneaker collaboration, designed by the late creative visionary, Virgil Abloh, and renowned artist, Futura. Only eight pairs in two magnificent hues are up for auction in this much awaited event, providing collectors and enthusiasts with a unique chance to purchase one.
Two colorways were designed: the blue and white Dunks referencing the ‘UNC’ University of North Carolina Tarheel’s iconic blue, and the orange and blue Dunks as a nod to Futura’s New York Mets fandom and the 2002 ‘Danny Supa’ Nike SB Dunk. Both colorways feature Futura Laboratories’ ‘FL’ logo, and the signatures of both Virgil and Futura sit underneath the blue semi-transparent soles of both shoes.
The Virgil Abloh Foundation, the charitable arm of Virgil Abloh Securities, which is committed to preserving Abloh’s wide creative practice, teachings, and ethos, will directly benefit from the auction’s revenues. The Foundation, which will begin operations later this year, seeks to carry on the Abloh family’s efforts of increasing access to and opportunities for diverse young people who are enthusiastic about pursuing professions in the creative sectors. The Virgil Abloh Foundation also has promised to donate half of its earnings to a number of charities picked by Futura, demonstrating the collaborative and giving nature of the organization. The Art for Justice Fund, the Boys & Girls Club of America, and the Innocence Project are some of these groups that have a big impact on the neighborhood.
This exceptional auction illustrates the ability of art and design to promote positive change in addition to being a one-of-a-kind collaboration between two powerful creative minds. Bidders have the opportunity to own a piece of sneaker history and support worthwhile causes that align with the principles and goals of the designers by taking part in this auction.
The auction is going live on April 5th, 2023 on Sothebys.
