Introducing BLESS: The Experimental Design Studio Revolutionizing Fashion
BLESS, an interdisciplinary design studio established by Desiree Heiss and Ines Kaag in 1995, is taking the fashion world by storm with its innovative approach to clothing, accessories, furniture, and objects for everyday life. With a presence in Berlin and Paris, BLESS has become synonymous with experimental design and functional creations. This article explores BLESS’s journey, its notable collaborations, and the upcoming collection in collaboration with Supreme. Since its inception, BLESS has embraced an unconventional vision by incorporating recycled textiles and materials into its designs. This commitment to sustainability sets the studio apart by promoting ethical practices within the industry. Furthermore, BLESS employs unorthodox craft techniques, resulting in unique and captivating creations that redefine the boundaries of fashion.
A Promising Start

Desiree Heiss and Ines Kaag, founders of BLESS, met in Paris while studying design. Even before officially establishing their label, they caught the attention of industry insiders. Placing an advertisement in i-D Magazine featuring a fur wig they had created, BLESS attracted the interest of Colette’s Sarah Andelman and Maison Margiela’s PR team. Their groundbreaking N°00 fur wig, made from vintage fur coats, made its debut in Maison Margiela’s FW97 runway show. This initial success paved the way for future collaborations and BLESS’s rise to prominence.
Pioneering Collections and Consumer Engagement
Over the years, BLESS has released more than 70 collections that push the boundaries of fashion and challenge conventional norms. The brand’s commitment to active consumer engagement sets it apart from its peers. Notable examples include BLESS N°06, a package that provides all the materials necessary to create a shoe, and BLESS N°57, a t-shirt made from cardboard look-alike fabric. By encouraging customers to take an active role in their fashion experience, BLESS fosters a sense of uniqueness and personal connection.
